We’re excited to launch something close to our hearts:
The Sharing Shed — powered by the Walking With Ava Foundation.

It all started after Ava’s injury, when we realised just how much equipment you need just to live each day with independence and how hard and expensive it is to get.

At the same time, we kept hearing about equipment, wheelchairs, and other life-changing resources just sitting in garages no longer needed, but still full of life.

So we created The Sharing Shed not a physical space (yet!), but a bridge.

Right now:
🟢 If you have equipment to give, you can list it here.

🔵 If you’re looking for something, you can request it here.

We’ll match up the equipment, coordinate connections, and help make sure no one in our community goes without something essential just because of cost or access.

"I am a health professional living with multiple complex physical disabilities that have taken away much of my independence. I am extremely limited in how much I can walk or stand, and even small tasks can come at a huge physical cost. There have been long periods where I have been largely confined to bed, and for a long time simply getting through the day has required constant calculation, pacing and sacrifice.

A wheelchair was recommended early on, but accessing appropriate equipment through formal systems proved extremely difficult and slow. For a long time, I relied on poorly fitting or unsafe equipment, or avoided aspects of life altogether because I could not participate safely without the right supports. This meant missing out on everyday activities most people take for granted — leaving the house, engaging in community life, and maintaining relationships — resulting in a severely restricted and isolating life.

Because of the Sharing Shed, I now have access to a properly fitted wheelchair. This has been genuinely life-changing. The difference in safety and physical strain has been enormous, reducing the effort required just to get through the day.

Because of this equipment, I can start reclaiming parts of my life that had slowly disappeared. I can continue working and supporting others with disabilities without risking further damage to my body. I can access the community, attend church, see friends, and spend more time outside my home again.

I am deeply grateful to The Sharing Shed for the impact this has had. The generosity of the Costa family and Sharing Shed donors has changed not just my mobility, but my ability to participate meaningfully in life."

The Sharing Shed Purpose

The Sharing Shed is a testament to what a community can do, when we come together with generosity and care. We know that not everyone has easy access to the equipment they need, but when one of us is facing a gap, the rest of us step in to help bridge it.

That's the heart of The Sharing Shed: neighbours supporting neighbours, so everyone has the chance to move through lifewith comfort, dignity, and confidence.

Every item we share represents someone's kindness being passed forward. The equipment we hand out is always free, offered as is, and in good working condition.

And just as importantly, everyone who receives something has the complete freedom to choose what feels right for them. You know your needs best, and you're always welcome to accept or decline without hesitation or explanation.

We also help create digital connections linking people with equipment that's being shared online. Because we can't see these items ourselves, the decision rests fully with the person sourcing them. Our role is simply to help open those doors and connections, so that more support can flow through our community.

Together, we're building a place where generosity becomes contagious, where no one is left behind, and where the simple act of sharing can brighten someone's whole day.

The Sharing Shed isn't just about equipment, it's about community, hope, and the belief that we lift each other higher, when we give what we can.
